Slime, Surprises, and Sweet Support: Our First Gelato No-No Pop-Up!
April 1st was technically April Fool’s Day… but the joke was 100% on us!
Our first Gelato No-No event—a slime “ice cream” stand hosted by Dragon Dreams Slimes + Sands—was full of learning curves, creative chaos, and cozy surprises.
This dreamy little pop-up was created to offer a full sensory experience: soft, scoopable slimes served like scoops of ice cream, with sprinkles, glitters, and delicious (non-edible!) scents to choose from. The goal? Give folks a hands-on way to engage with our newest creations and spread a little slime-powered joy in the process.
We had everything ready.
Everything... except the slime.
🚨Slime Emergency!🚨
When it came time to mix our fresh batches the morning of, something felt... wrong.
Turns out, we had swapped a key ingredient with a different brand—something we thought would work the same. It didn’t. The result? A wet, greasy mess that absolutely would not hold!
What followed was hours of emergency remixing, tweaking ratios, testing new batches, and trying not to panic. It was a very real reminder that even handmade magic sometimes goes a little sideways.
But we did it. The final batches came together just in time—with just the right texture, stretch, and cozy charm.
Showing Up Late, But With Love
We rolled up to the event late, flustered, but ready—and were immediately met with kindness that reminded us why we do all of this!
A massive thank-you to the sweet soul who tipped our young booth runner $20—without even purchasing anything. That one gesture lit us back up after a rocky start!
And to everyone who visited the table, scooped up a dish of dreamy slime, or simply came by to cheer us on: we see you, and we are so, so grateful! Thank you so much for showing a young entrepreneur that they can do this!
What We Learned (And What’s Next!)
Even with the hiccups, Gelato No-No was a cozy success! We learned:
Double-check your ingredients (every time!)
Be ready to pivot under pressure
That slime + sprinkles = pure joy for everyone
And that kindness from strangers can totally save your day
This event was the very first for Dragon Dreams Slimes + Sands, and while it may have been sticky behind the scenes, it was still magical where it counted.
We’re already planning to come back bigger, better, and way more prepared! Next time: more scents, more textures, more scoops—and no slime crises (we hope).
